Qlikview Server & Access Point

Hello Everyone,

I have a few .qvw files with me, and some of them are with enabled section access, others or not.

I have deployed all of them in to the Qlikview Server in the below method.

Step 1: In QMC --> System --> Management Service --> Qlikview Servers --> myServer --> Folders

I have set "Root Folder" path as where my qlikivew files are present

Eg: C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Qlikview

Step 2: While installing the Qlikview server, my colleague has created a user, with those credentials only, I open Access Point

and I am able to view all of those qvw files from Access Point.

Step 3: When I click on the qvw files which have section access implemented, they are prompting for credentials to authorize the account, and after successful login, the file is opened. I don't have any problem in these type of files.

Step 4: When I click on the qvw files which have no section access implemented, some of them are opening directly. But a few of them are prompting for username and password with the screen same as "access point login page". I don't know why.

Could anyone guide me in the right way for this problem. Let me know if you need any further information from me.

johnw‌ Could you help me on this one.

Since the document does not have section access, take a look at the "Settings > Document Properties..." of the QVW. Under the Opening tab, make sure that the "Initial Data Reduction Based on Section Access" and "Initial Selection Based on Section Access" are both not selected.

Step 1 : i think the Root folder path should be on drive somewhere link : C:\Programdata\QlikView or C:\QlikView

which can be accessed by all the users

Step 2 : You can create custom users in QMC which can be used to access "Access point" but to view the application (with no section access) user should have a license assigned

custom users can be created by following below steps :

  • System > Directory service connector > select custom directory
  • Click on "+" green sign on right hand side
  • select default option and enter admin account details
  • click apply
  • Once the Custom directory get created you can create users from the user tab under custom directory
  • you can decide what should be Username and password and same will be used to access "Access Point"

Step 3 - All good

Step 4 - Files you are opening on access point?

if yes then QV check whether a user is authenticate to view the app or not.

Try entering the custom user credentials created in step 2 above, but don't forget to assign Named CAL to user, Document CAL to the .QVW or if you have session CAL its fine, user will get access

Hope this helps

Hi punitpopli

Thanks for your help.

I did the step 1 and step 2 completely, but my problem is still exists.

When I click on a .qvw file with no section access, it is again and again prompting for username & pwd with accesspoint login page.

Do you have any idea ?

Hi,

Did you tried opening the QVW file on server i.e. using Desktop Client on server?

Hi punitpopli

I kept that qvw file in source folder (i.e C:/program files/Qlikview/source)

Given the same address in Root folder ( QMC --> System --> Management Service --> Qlikview Servers --> myServer --> Folders)

I am able to view the file in Access Point, but when I click on the file, it is asking for credentials with the screen same as "access point login page".

Do you need any further information ?

what i meant was: try to open the app locally i.e. using QlikView Desktop client on your server, this is just to check if you are able to open the app or not.

Hi punitpopli

I don't have Qlikview Desktop version in the server machine, so I can't open that qvw file there.

But I built that qvw file in my local system, and I am still able to open that file in local system.

Let me know if you are expecting something else.

Thank you.

Hi, Narendra,

Try this,

1. select the Document Properties

2. Go to Opening tab. The "Strict Exclusion" is selected by default,

3. Check the "Initial Date Reduction Based on Section Access", and make the "Strict Exclusion" active.

4. Uncheck "Strict Exclusion".

"Strict Exclusion" is used for strictly control the login when using section access.  But this is normally only for .qvw have section access. But maybe some history section access used for these problem .qvw.

Hope this helps.
