SUM not doing what I expected

Hi, I am starting with QV and trying to get a simple chart built showing the 'top 10 users by XXX'. So I chose USERNAME as my dimension and SUM(variable) as the expression and then displayed the results as a bar chart. I expected this to give me one bar per USERNAME, but I'm getting multiple bars per USERNAME.  What am I doing wrong ? I'm using the Personal Edition v11. Cheers, Dave

Just after posting this I worked out what was going wrong. The chart was only displaying one bar per username value, but there were so many values that it was only printing/displaying a few, i.e. it was not displaying every username value. I also hadn't got the 'top 10' bit working, I got confused because initiall there were exactly 10 users displayed ! Ho hum...

Dear,

David.

I think you to take something else as dimension in place of UserName, example Salary.then it will display bar for each User.

and if you want to display only top 10 users then goto-->dimension Limit tab select the check box for restrict the values and then show only largest 10 values.

hope this one will work for you.

Hi,

Use UserName as Dimension

Expression = Sum(Field)

Chart Properties -> Dimension Limit select the check box for restrict the values and then show only largest 10 values

OR

Go to Chart Properties -> Presentation tab and select Max Number(1-100) and give 10 in text box.  Before that you need to Sort the Dimension Descending in Sort tab.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

Jagan.
