Using the example files

I was looking through the example files and noticed the dasboard "My Life in Data" file.  It has a huge chunk of content that is similar to what I want to create myself.   My questions are:

1. Are these files editable to bring in different data?   I tried to import another excel sheet, but I got an error message while reloading the script about embedded licenses, and it stopped loading my manual data.

2. Is it possible to copy and paste object files from these examples to a new qvw file?  I tried to copy and paste via the clipboard but that isn't working.

Thanks!

The easiest thing for you to do may be to put the data into table boxes, export them to excel, and then make a new qvw to import that data in.  Then you can have free reign over everything

The data files are not provided with Qlikview 11. Also if you see the script area, they are hiddem.

API guide also does not come with qlikview 11.

If you wish to have data files and API guide then you have to install Qlikview 10.

There is also free web services that offer dummy data  such as Mockaroo.

You can get the table names in the Table viewer (Ctrl-T).

You can also generate QVDs for each table after binary load of QVW file.

Really, I have my own data I just want to use all of the existing objects, formatting and color schema. Will I still need to do this step or is there a way to just copy/use whats already existing?

Thanks
