4 fundamental aspects of scalability: Data, Users, Applications and Application Design.

Scalability is the capability of a system, network, or process to handle a growing amount of work, or its potential to be enlarged in order to accommodate that growth.[1] For example, it can refer to the capability of a system to increase its total output under an increased load when resources (typically hardware) are added. An analogous meaning is implied when the word is used in an economic context, where scalability of a company implies that the underlying business model offers the potential for economic growth within the company.

A WP about scalability (maybe too detailed)

In marketing speak: "QlikView grows with your business"

Scalability in QlikView jargon means being able to resize your QlikView environment to match new requirements without fundamentally changing the BI solution. As mentioned before, these new requirements may mean:

  • more users
  • more data
  • moe locations (geography)
  • more/different applications (documents)

QlikView scales in one of two directions or in both at the same time:

  • Horizontally: more QlikView platforms distribute load across resources and/or geographical locations while maintaining a single point of entry.
  • Vertically: more cpu's/cores, more memory and larger applications on a single platform handle growing models and more users, up to a certain point

Best,

Peter

Still I didn't get clear picture about this scalability explain in detail.
