as MVP treseco wrote above, it is always okay to start with the help online.
But just to give you a clue to feed your curiosity... imagine the following:
Sum(Sales)
it gives you the sum of the sales. But if you do some selection it gives you the sum of a partial amount of sales.
Now if you want to compare it with the total amount of sales you should clear the current selections... or calculate the sum as we had no selection i.e. as following
Sum({1} Sales)
this is just a simple example!
