YTD Calculation In Pivot table with Year as dimension

Hi There..

I am having a problem with YTD - # of customers calculation in a pivot table with Year as dimension. Here's the scenario -

  1. 1.     New Customers:
  • Number of new customer = YTD Customer - last year end total customer ,data required here for current year and previous 3 years
  • for example if the report is run on 1st July 2016 , it is required to get number of customers on 1st July 2013 &    1st July 2014   & 1st July 2015 and 1st July 2016 ,

New customer for 2016 = number of customers on 1st July 2016 – number of total customer by 31 Dec 2015 .

New customer for 2015 = number of customers on 1st July 2015– number of total customer by 31 Dec 2014 .

New customer for 2014 = number of customers on 1st July 2014– number of total customer by 31 Dec 2013 .

Here's a snip from the requirement document.

This actually is 4 years to date calculation.

Output I'm expecting is -

Year      #New Customers

2013     100

2014     202

2015     375

2016     867

****I've a nice master calendar with all required fields except YTD flags.

Please advise.

Thanks a lot for your response Gysbert. Going forward i'll keep these guidelines in mind.

For now i've solved the issue myself. Hence i'm closing this thread.
