I haven't heard of a 'frieze' function so far. Also searching the HELP or the forum doesn't return any hits.

Could you provide the context you have seen this function?

Regarding the wildmatch() function, it's explained in the help (and there are lots of threads in the forum with detailed explanations):

wildmatch( str, expr1 [ , expr2,...exprN ] )

The wildmatch function performs a case insensitive comparison and permits the use of wildcard characters ( * and ?) in the comparison strings.

Example:

wildmatch( M, 'ja*','fe?','mar')

returns 1 if M = January

returns 2 if M = fex
