Dimension Limits:
(Look at second tab in your Chart) but basically:
Dimension Limits can be set for chart types, except for Gauge Charts and Pivot Tables.
The Dimension Limits tab controls the number of dimension values you can see in a given chart.
Rank function
Evaluates expression, compares the result with the result of the other rows containing the current column segment and returns the ranking of the current row within the segment

Both are ways to see data in particular ranks, from top or bottom.
Dimension limit is a new feature of Qlikview 11 release, you can basically limit your dimension to show top/bottom.. x records of your dimension.
Same thing you can achieve with Rank function like, rank(aggr(sum(sales),dimesnion value)<x.
