Qlik Data Transfer fails to open after an upgrade (to, for example, 10.4.4. No error message is displayed, but Qlik Data Transfer opens to strings of unreadable or corrupted characters:

Restarting the Qlik services does not resolve the issue.

Resolution

Clear the Qlik Data Transfer local cache:

  1. Stop the Qlik Data Transfer service
  2. Locate the cache folder in C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Roaming\Qlik\DataTransfer
  3. Move or delete the cache folder
  4. Start the Qlik Data Transfer service; a new cache folder is created in C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Roaming\Qlik\DataTransfer
  5. Access Qlik Data Transfer

Cause

A corrupted installation or cache after the update.

The front-end in Qlik Data Transfer loads local HTML and JS from its install directory. If the install was incomplete or a cached file is corrupted, you can get raw code instead of a rendered page.
