Details

While working with Qlik Support on a failed NPrinting upgrade, we may perform an upgrade your NPrinting database and return it to you for restore purposes.

When restoring an NPrinting backup file the following text is appears in the restore command console: 

ERROR Restore Process Failed - Found invalid data while decoding

Logging into the NP web console will be possible, but NPrinting connections/reports/apps/tasks etc., will not be present.This result is caused by an problem with the zip file.

Next, verify if the archive unpacks correctly by manually unzipping the backup and review the process for errors. If the following error is found, then the backup is corrupted and the zip cannot be used and prevents the restore:

An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file.

Resolution

1. Confirm these settings on the ZIP file:
   
   
   
   
2. Manually unzip the backup  that was created by the Qlik NPrinting backup utility (using built-in Windows unzipping) to a folder
3. Re-compress the resulting files into a new ZIP (again using built-in Windows ZIP functionality) and check the file properties are the same as in step one above
4. Use this new NP_backup.zip file and restore of the database as per Backup and Restore Qlik NPrinting
5. Login and verify that the missing NPrinting connections/reports/apps/tasks etc are now visible and available for use
