In certain scenarios, it is necessary to create additional Windows local accounts for Qlik Replicate and Qlik Enterprise Manager to provide a user the minimum required access level.

This article outlines the steps to add a Windows local account in the built-in Guests group.

Resolution

  1. From the Windows start menu, open compmgmt.msc
  2. Expand Computer Management > System ToolsLocal Users and Groups

  3. Right-click Users, then select New User from the context menu
  4. Create a new local account, entering a username and password
  5. Right-click on the new user account and select Properties
  6. Open the Member Of tab
  7. Remove the default Users group
  8. Click Add and type Guests in the text field
  9. Click Check Names and then OK

  10. Open the Qlik Enterprise Manager (QEM) console and log in with an Admin account (has the admin role)
  11. Add the new Windows local user account to the QEM user list. The new user can be assigned any QEM permissions, such as the Admin, Viewer or other roles.

  12. Logout from the QEM console
  13. Now log in using the new local user account:
