After distributing the Consumption Report app from Qlik Cloud Administration > Settings, scheduled reloads of the app fail with the following error:

Error: $(MUST_INCLUDE= [lib://snowflake_external_share:DataFiles/Capacity_Usage_Script_PROD.txt] cannot access the local file system in current script mode. Try including with LIB path.

Environment

  • Qlik Cloud Analytics
  • Qlik Talend Cloud

Resolution

The Consumption Report app isn't meant to be reloaded. The app should be distributed from Qlik Cloud Administration > Settings each day. Refer to Distributing detailed consumption reports for details:

Redistribute the app to obtain the most recent data. Apps stored on your tenant exist as separate instances and are not replaced by newer ones.

On the Talend side, refer to Distributing Data Capacity Reporting App for Talend Management Console for details on how to set up capacity reporting.

To automatically redistribute the app, see Automate deployment of the Capacity consumption app with Qlik Automate.

Cause

The Report Consumption app is meant to be distributed from Qlik Cloud Administration > Settings and not updated by a scheduled reload of the app.

Thanks @Chip_Matejowsky for the clarification. Though is there a way to automate this distribution to execute regularly and possibly to a nominated space?

Why can't it be reloaded like any other app?  Who wants to play the button-press-monkey everyday?

And why is this app not even shown the readable app names in the lists? It shows only cryptic AppId. And you can't modify the app and add the name column yourself (I have the table AppId2AppName already)

This is so much bad practice and renders it unusable. Why?

We want to track our consumption on a regular, transparent and professional basis!

We shouldn't have to go into administration everyday to run this report, that makes NO SENSE we are trying to automate things here not make them more difficult?

Why can't it be reloaded or scheduled like any other app?

How do we get the name and not the internal id's as it shows only cryptic AppId TaskId, EngineId etc.

I would like this to automated so It can be emailed out on a regular bases?

This shouldn't be this difficult!

Consumption monitoring should be part of the REST API, which does already a good job on monitoring other things like app usage and more.
