Qlik Sense UDC Excel via ODBC tasks fail with ERROR [08004] [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Too many client tasks

Qlik Sense UDC Excel ODBC tasks start to fail with the following error after Windows Patch upgrades for "Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime" with the following error:

ERROR [08004] [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Too many client tasks

Environment

• Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows 

Resolution

The following options seem to solve the issue:

1. A reinstalling of the Windows Patches for "Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime"
2. Installing of  "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016"  

Cause

The cause of the issue is not 100% clear however the issue seems to be caused by the new Windows Patches for "Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime".

We have seen success by uninstalling for example:

Though there may be additional ones installed if you are affected by this issue; we do not have a comprehensive list of which patches affect this issue.

Hi,

We had success by downloading the Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime and Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 and choosing repair installation. Requires stopping Qlik services and a restart after.
