Using the Slack Connector in Qlik Application Automation you may see the following message when trying to connect using a Slack guest account:

You are not authorized message using Slack guest account in Qlik Application Automation

you are not authorized to install Qlik Application Automation on CHANNEL.png

Cause:

Slack guest accounts are not permitted to use or install apps, as outlined on Permissions by role in Slack | Slack.

Resolution:

The user needs Full Member role on the Slack Workspace they're trying to connect to.

You can check if you're a guest by going into the Slack Workspace required and:

  1. Clicking on your Avatar image on the upper right corner
  2. View Profile.
  3. If you're a guest, you'll see this under your profile image:

Additionally, the user may sometimes see this message even when having a Full Member role on the workspace:

Qlik Application Automation is requesting permission to access the workspace.png

This means that the Owner/Admin of that Slack workspace disabled the option to let Members install apps on it. They should then submit a request that will be sent to the workspace Admin.

For more information about the different type or roles in Slack see Types of roles in Slack | Slack.

Environment:
