When using unaligned 12.70 / 12.80 server and clients, the communication is broken

Environment

• QlikView 12.70 server with 12.80 client (desktop or plugin)
• QlikView 12.80 server with 12.70 client (desktop or plugin)

Resolution

Using unaligned versions is not supported and such a setup should not be used.

The problem with the broken communication is due to the fact that  QlikView 12.80 uses a different encryption mode than 12.70.

Should it be necessary to use an unaligned setup in a test environment, the security of the 12.80 installation needs to be downgraded from the AES 256 CBC encryption mode to the AES 128 CBC one. Check this article for details.
