Introducing Write Table a simple, interactive way for users to work directly with their data inside their analytics apps
Turn insights into action... right inside your analytics!
As we wrap up the year and before everyone starts tying bows on projects, dashboards and wish lists, we wanted to add one more gift to the pile. Something that helps you move from insights to action faster, collaborate more easily, and keep your workflows flowing straight into the new year.
Unwrap Write Table, now available in Qlik Cloud Analytics.
Write Table is included with Premium, Enterprise, and Enterprise SaaS subscriptions. No add-ons or extra licensing required. You can find it in the Chart Library now.
A More Interactive Analytics Experience
Write Table introduces a new editable table chart that lets you update data, add context, validate decisions, and collaborate directly within your analytics apps. No reloads. No switching systems.
Just click, update, and watch your changes sync instantly across active sessions.
And because it’s built natively into Qlik Cloud Analytics, it seamlessly integrates into your existing workflows, transforming your apps into actionable workspaces.
"Probably the most awaited feature for customers who want to turn insights into action. Write table closes the gap between analytics and transaction applications, offering a compelling solution for those who always want to take it a step further. "
— Henri Rufin, Head of Data & Analytics, Radial
From Decisions to Automation
Now you can capture decisions and act on them.
With real-time syncing and change tracking, every update you make in a Write Table is stored in a Qlik-managed database called a “change store” that can be exported and connected into Qlik Automate workflows. That means approvals, changes, or comments made in an app can instantly trigger downstream processes.
From updating operational records... to routing approvals... to notifying teams... to pushing changes into your operational systems....
Write Table helps you move smoothly from insight -> decision -> action in one place.
“The new Write Table is a game-changing addition to Qlik's data and analytics solution. It allows our users to interact with the data, add context to their insights and collaborate effortlessly within the same trusted end-to-end platform. We're going to use it for everything, from updating data easily to seamlessly integrating with third-party tools using Qlik Automate workflows.”
— Sebastian Björkqvist, Solution Lead, Fellowmind

This is great, we're getting closer to a solution to replace Vizlib Writeback and extend to more users. It looks like currently the download ability is limited to image/pdf only. Is there any plan to add the ability to download data as an excel file? This would probably be a must-have to get business user buy in.
Also, with Vizlib Writeback, users could multi-line copy/paste from excel back into the table, but that is also not a functionality allowed per the "limitations" in the Write Table documentation. Would also be a very nice to have feature in the future.
1. Can you make measures based on the values entered in these editable column? So if column A is a standard value of 2 and column B is edited by a user to 2, I can make column C say 2 + 2 = 4?
2. If multiple people are in a managed app can it be so that others cannot see changes made? Hoping this can be as a total sandbox plug n play scenario but that would get messy if people are constantly changing over each other's inputs.
Hi @jalanhart , actually input columns cannot be referenced in expressions and measures, maybe they are looking for this in the roadmap for the object.
This looks excellent! I see there is functionality to allow for a list of possible values. Is there any plan to allow an existing field to be used for the possible values? For example, if I'm looking to assign new accounts to different reps, could I use the existing field name containing the possible reps rather than creating the values to be selected? Again, this is great!
Great feature, I can see many use cases for this and I'm sure it will only get better over time. For now it would be great to get some information on how we can access the change store data to read that data into the app and enable storage of it permanently. Thanks Qlik!
Is there something like a real full technical documentation? There are so many in depth questions before you can really implement this on a PROD environment.
- How exactly should we treat the 90 days temporary storage?
- What happens if we publish an app from DEV/TEST (shared space) to PROD (managed space)?
- By storing the comments long term in a QVD, can I re-use it in different apps?
- How to comments react to filters? Imaging commenting to revenue 1.000 € in a region an then you filter for blue products only and the revenue drops to 200 €. - The comment does not match the content anymore.
- etc etc.
There needs to be a comprehensive technical documentation?
