Error Activating Qlik Answers - Stuck at "Saving Data in progress"

I’m running into an issue with Qlik Answers across all apps.

I’ve tested this with multiple apps—ranging from very small ones (single table with only dozens of rows) to larger apps (a few hundred MB). In every case, once I enable Qlik Answers, the app gets stuck at “Saving data in progress” and never completes.

For context:

  • I am the tenant admin
  • Enable cross-region inference is turned on
  • Under user permissions, Data analysis (Agentic AI) is enabled for all users

Since this happens consistently across all apps regardless of size or complexity, it doesn’t seem data-related.

Has anyone else run into this issue or know what might be causing it?

Based on similar reported issues in the Qlik community, the "Saving data in progress" hang when enabling Qlik Answers is likely a persistent backend sync issue rather than an app-specific data issue. Since you are a tenant admin and have verified permissions and cross-region inference, it is recommended to focus on backend state, service availability, and potential browser cache conflicts. 

 

Immediate Troubleshooting Steps

  • Check Qlik Service Status: Verify if there is an active incident or ongoing maintenance for your tenant region on the official Qlik Trust site.
  • Toggle Agentic AI Permissions: Temporarily disable the "Data analysis (Agentic AI)" entitlement, wait 15 minutes for the cache to clear, then re-enable it for the user.
  • Try a New Browser Session: Open an Incognito/Private window, login, and try to enable Qlik Answers. This helps eliminate browser cache or extension conflicts that might be hindering the UI's ability to recognize the "Saved" state.
  • Check for "Stuck" Reloads: If a previous reload or activation was interrupted, the application might be locked in a "saving" state by the engine. Try creating a tiny, new test app, loading data, and enabling Answers on that to see if the problem is indeed global or specific to the current apps. 

Potential Causes

  • Backend Latency: The enabling process for Qlik Answers requires a backend synchronization to prepare the app for AI insights. This can fail or hang if the Qlik backend is under high load, even with small apps.
  • App Metadata Locking: The app might have an internal lock preventing the "save" command from committing. 

 

If the issue persists, raising a support case with Qlik specifically citing that this occurs "across all apps" is necessary, as it indicates a tenant-level configuration issue.
