It’s time! In August we announced Qlik Sense Cloud Business will transition to Qlik Sense Business. Now, Qlik Sense Cloud users can begin to migrate content and users to Qlik Sense Business with a Qlik Sense Business Subscription. The video above and attached PDF can guide you through that process.

Qlik Sense Business, Qlik’s newest SaaS offering, brings the power of Qlik’s third-generation analytics platform to groups, teams, and businesses that want to quickly get started operationalizing analytics and making data-driven decisions. All users get unmatched analytical power, with unique associative exploration and search, AI-powered insight suggestions, and app creation and data prep.  Qlik Sense Business is built on the same cloud-native architecture and highly-scalable cloud service as Qlik Sense Enterprise, ensuring the same consistent, seamless, and powerful experience for all users of cloud editions of Qlik Sense.

All Qlik Sense Cloud users (Business and Basic) must migrate their content to Qlik Sense Business by December 15, 2019, or it will be lost.

Here's what you need to know to prepare:

Qlik Sense Cloud Business Customers on Annual Subscriptions

You will receive two emails this week guiding you to set up Qlik Sense Business. The first email will explain the product change and how to set up Qlik Sense Business.  The second email will include a unique link to set up Qlik Sense Business.  Once you complete the set up process, Qlik Sense Business will be automatically configured to the same number of users and renewal date as your existing Qlik Sense Cloud Business subscription.  You can then begin moving content and adding users to complete the migration.

You’ll have access to both Qlik Sense Cloud Business and Qlik Sense Business through December 15, 2019 to ensure ample time to smoothly transition your content and users.

If you didn’t receive your set-up email or the link in the email expired, please log a support case.

Qlik Sense Cloud Business Customers on Month-to-Month Subscriptions and Qlik Sense Cloud Basic Customers

Next month you will receive emails with information about how to sign up for a Qlik Sense Business free trial and a limited time offer for 50% off your first annual subscription of Qlik Sense Business (month-to-month subscriptions will not be available). Be sure to follow the instructions in that email to ensure you receive the discount.

Once you sign up for a Qlik Sense Business subscription, you will also have access to both Qlik Sense Cloud Business and Qlik Sense Basic through December 15, 2019 to ensure ample time to smoothly transition your content and users.

To learn more about how to use Qlik Sense Business, visit our Help website, and if you have questions about the transition process, post them down below.

Hi Michael

Thanks for this information. The 50% discount on the first renewal is a very fair offer I feel. Although I'm sure some will be upset about a future price increase. But hopefully the improvements in QSB compared to QSCB (like increased speed, extensions and self service etc.) will make it all worth it.

Questions.

What about additional QSCB users. Say 15 users today increased to 20 (+5). Or even 15 increased to 50. This could be a marketing ploy to get more users signed up at a big discount (maybe 🤔)

And what about the free cloud? With 5 free users. Will this still be available?

Thanks

Hi Robert – thanks for your questions. I also appreciate your comments. Indeed – you are getting additional functionality, improved performance, and the same user experience as Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services (our enterprise SaaS deployment option) with this new offering. In regards to additional users, any that you add during the remainder of your subscription will be included in the discounted renewal.

The free cloud offer won’t be available after December, which is why we're supporting all of our users through the transition process through the end of the year.

Hope that helps! If you have any more questions you need me to answer / forward, please let me know.

Hi @macuevah, if you have an annual QSCB subscription, you should receive instructions this week about how to migrate. If you're on a QSCB monthly subscription or using QSB, hold tight a little bit longer and we'll start your transition process in October.

Hi,

Concerning connection… what about Dropbox connection please ?

Is there eventually an alternative to store an excel file somewhere ?

Many thanks

Hi QlikTonic

There is an alternative that I used during the demo period. You can upload as files.

These (Excel) files are automatically made available to all your Apps that are set up. But uploading is a manual process. And once uploaded it can't be downloaded like DropBox

Hi Michael,

I have question about data connectivity to postgresql

I'm trying to migrate application from QlikSenseCloud to QlikSenseBusiness.

I successfuly uploaded application from QlikSenseCloud , but when I tried to create new Postgresql connection I got error: Connection timeout expired

All parameters ( host, port, database name, username, password) are identical as in old QlikSenseCloud application

When I try to connect from old QlikSenseCloud application , everything works fine

Do you have any idea what went wrong?

Hi again,

I just had to add 3 public addresses to firewall whitelist on my router:

34.247.21.179

52.31.212.214

54.154.95.18

It works fine now..

Hello -

Some questions:

  • Is DropBox available yet? If not, when?
  • Will we have the ability to store .qvd files, and thus create delta updates, instead of re-loading all data each time?
  • Will we have section access to more finely control authorizations within an app?
  • In the front end chart type tables, will we be able to create mini-charts?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi

@_k_jedud , where exactly did you find those IP addresses?

I'm looking for something similar to this, but for the new business and not cloud edition

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-cloud/Subsystems/CloudHub/Content/Sense_Hub/LoadData/connect-data-...

Also @Jeffrehau , I can confirm that storing QVD's work!

I’m asking: has the Dropbox connection been fixed yet? I don’t want to start my free trial until it’s fixed.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hello,

so did I interpret this right, with the new scheme you essentially discontinue the free access tier for the Qlik cloud product-line ? This surely is sad news and a let down for groups and privat users..

As others mentioned, this leaves you with nothing to offer against the PowerBI Camp!

@robert99

We are working as fast as possible to delivery the Dropbox connector however I do not expect it to be in the next week or so.  It is expected closer to the cutover date.

Qlik

so it could be as late as Dec?

"As others mentioned, this leaves you with nothing to offer against the PowerBI Camp!" Robert

Agree its a shame. Although I never used this option on an ongoing basic. I tried it but it was too limited without the automatic refresh options.

But PBI has also dropped the free cloud sharing option (and some time back). And of course there is still the Qlik Sense free fully functional private edition.

Hello,

Is there an update on the date on which the DropBox connector will be available? It seems like we should at least have a date so that we can plan our conversion.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hello,

Any update? It seems like you must have some kind of project plan with DropBox on getting the connector up and running. Could you please share a target date with us, your customers?

I have to agree, after investigating Qlik Cloud Services / Qlik Business Cloud, connectivity of flat files appears to be poor. Only option appears to be manually uploading, or using AWS S3 connector?

Hi Guys - thanks for all the comments and questions. I am being told that Dropbox should be in place shortly before the end of this year.

At this time - the solution provided by Steve is the best option.

No, the workaround proposed by Steve is broken now (read to the end of the thread). And the workaround doesn't support Excel files nor QVD files in any case.

And why should we believe the proposed schedule from your development team? In August when you announced Qlik Sense Business, it was just a couple of months away, and here we are, two months later, and we're still a couple of months away.

I suggest  that for the customers using DropBox, you postpone the forced cut-over date / shutdown date of the old system for one month after the DropBox connector is available, so your customers can test it and migrate what they have, rather than being forced to pay to develop new connectors.

Hello gentlemen! I've read a lot of comments that Dropbox connections aren't working, that's critical, because we use that a lot. If we are talking about migration such a tool should be ready before the turnaround date.
