HTTP and HTTPS for AEM

We wish to use Qlik Enterprise API calls without the requirement for HTTPS, or some other solution that does not require a certifying authority.

1. It prevents us from deploying AWS EC2 instances without manual interaction.

2. We do not wish to have to get a certifying authority certificate, they are costly and a pain point to implementing a Development, Staging, Production workflow, having to have a certificate for each environment.

Please advise

Hi,

Please open a case for your question so we can further check it and see if it is supported at all.

Thanks and regards,

Hi Chris,

After furthe checking this is not supported (so no need for a case). As indicated in the QEM documentation (See link below): "Industry-standard security practices dictate that web user interface for enterprise products must use secure HTTP (HTTPS). Qlik Enterprise Manager enforces the use of HTTPS and will not work if HTTPS is configured incorrectly."

Thank you for that reply.

Follow up questions:

  1. Is it possible to replace the self signed certificate with another self signed certificate in the event the hostname must change?
  2. If not, can we re-register the one provided by Qlik as part of a hostname change?
  3. Can we use Custom URL instead of Machine name, and how does that affect us?
