Unlike Version 4 that required developers to understand QVD files, incremental loads and On Demand Application Generation features, Version 5 simply allows for a rolling X days and loads all of the data for the application live. So the only setup/configuration needed is to identify your own Snowflake tenant connections.
For those of you that really want to dig in, here is a how-to video that shows you code level insights to help you understand and configure Version 5 for your usage:
Those are all excuses I wish I could use to explain why I posted information about Version 5 of the Snowflake Usage Application prior to posting information about Version 4. I think out of the box for sure, but I still count 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 -5 just like everyone else.
@DavidFreriks and I designed Version 4 of the Qlik Snowflake Usage Application with the big implementations in mind. Incremental loads are used for the tables so that you can keep accumulating massive history without the cost/time of having to read it all live. All of the query history is retained and saved to QVD for use in a specific Query Analysis application, but only the aggregates are retained in the main application. Thus, allowing very nimble responses and yet providing an easy to link to the details when anyone wants to analyze them. For cost tracking we provided a way for you to map Users to Cost Centers.
