I have a list of 600 Clarity columns that are changing for the Epic 2018 upgrade.  Can you think of an easy way those 600 can be run through some sort of QV Search tool to generate a list of apps that need to be looked at? I have a tool that I can search scripts for text but its more of a one by one type of tool. Any help would be appreciated!

    Marry Christmas!!

I want to know about EPIC EMR. How can we integrate EPIC EMP records in our dashboard.

Do we need to purchase some API or connector from EPIC to do so. Please provide a basic structure details we need to incorporate in our Qlik application to enable user to access EPIC EMP records and details in the dashboard.

    Thanks,

We're trying to tightly integrate our many QlikView dashbaords, which provide access to nearly all of our organization's Key Performance Indicators, with Epic Radar dashboards, where our providers and departmental supervisors spend time.

We've shown that we can embed QlikView documents or even single objects in Radar HTML component windows -- but has anyone successfully been able to pass an Epic user's LOGIN_DEP (name and/or number) through Radar to Qlik?

We know how Qlik could use those values to pre-filter displayed information to the user's department, but we can't find a way to get Radar to pass that value (I realize this is more of an Epic question than a Qlik question, but we've had no success through Epic....)

It's time to launch the Healthcare App Poster Contest.

We're asking you to submit a use case of your choosing to display at Qonnections 2018 (Orlando April 23-26). While I’m looking forward to seeing you (and 150+ of our healthcare friends) there, you do not need to be present at Qonnections to participate.

    The Challenge?

    1. Review your most popular apps, and pick one to highlight.
    2. Use the attached template to briefly describe the use case and provide some visuals.
    3. Submit back to me (joe.warbington@qlik.com) before Wednesday April 11th (the sooner, the better as I need some time to review and get them printed).
    4. We’ll have a fun way for the community to vote on the top posters.
    5. We’ll announce the winner at or shortly after Qonnections.

    The Prizes?

    • The top 3 submitters will receive a comprehensive Data Literacy Workshop for you, your team, and anyone in your organization. (Limit one per organization)
    • All submissions will also get a unique 3D printed Qlik Healthcare artifact of my own creation. It’s my fun hobby on the side.
    • Feel free to take the physical poster (large format, foam core mounted) back for display within your offices. It’ll be a great way to promote your creations internally!

Think you have what it takes? If you can’t decide on just one, I’ll take two submissions from your organization, but you can only win one time. I’m happy to help review your apps too if you can’t decide and want my perspective.

Partners? Please only submit a solution that is in use by a client, and with their permission.

    Good Afternoon Group,

I work for a healthcare organization that uses both EPIC and QlikSense. We are in the process of building better analytics tools with QlikSense in order to get better visibility into Hospital Billing (HB) denials and other payment/allowable scenarios. Has anyone built anything along these lines and would be willing to share some thoughts/experience on how you did this?

    Thank you,

    Chris

We have created several department level applications that pull unique datasets for various departments (measures vary between: patients, patient minutes, hours, days, late surgical starts, length of procedure, etc.). Our Executive team would like a dashboard which would essentially pull a few key visualizations from multiple existing applications. We could obviously copy and paste the code duplicating the loads, formulas and variables to create this effect but I know that is very poor design strategy. Not only does this create synthetic key which need to be resolved but more importantly this is a maintenance nightmare since our department apps are constantly being revised.

If this was a small enough set of apps, we could probably use the executive dashboard as the master application for all users and handle security with section access but this is simply not practical for our situation. We have multiple users creating and modifying applications concurrently and it is just not practical. We need modularity for easier development, troubleshooting and reliability. How does one make the implementation of Qlik Sense more scalable? Even more specifically, how would you recommend we build our executive dashboard?

Qlik DataMarket happily announces the availability of CMS Provider Performance, a new Healthcare Topical package. The 1st of 5 Healthcare topical packages expected over the next 4 months.

    Screen Shot 2017-09-14 at 12.59.48.pngScreen Shot 2017-09-14 at 12.58.06.png

The CMS Provider Performance data package will allow healthcare providers in the US to analyze their performance as measured by patient outcomes both physical and psychological.  This data increases the transparency of hospital care and helps to establish baselines for quality improvement effort across the US care provider community.  Using the data customers will get performance benchmarks for treatment of various illnesses and see how they compare to others in their peer-group, city, state or nationally.

It currently consists of three datasets.

    • Readmissions & Deaths shows, in a standardized manner, how the treatments to ailments compare across US hospitals, using data from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The data is updated annually (July)
    • Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program tracks the US Government’s program where payments for services are linked to the quality of hospital care. The data is updated annually.
    • Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (HOS), the first patient-reported outcomes measure used in Medicare managed care. Through the HOS, Medicare have gathered reliable and clinically meaningful health status data from the Medicare Advantage program to use in quality improvement activities, pay for performance, program oversight, public reporting, and to improve health.

Today, each U.S. hospital needs to report this information but gets little use of the information in return.  Now, using this dataset, customers can ask such questions as:

    • How do my readmission rates for CABG compare to in-state hospitals?
    • What demographic groups are affected by Hypertension and what's the emotional and physical impact on a patient's accomplishments and activities?
    • What's the national readmission rate for those who receive a knee replacement procedure?

Typically this data is hard to find and difficult to integrate into existing data models.  However, we curate the data for you and make sure that all diseases and treatments, geo-dimensions and healthcare providers have been identified and that the appropriate unique identifiers have been associated with each.  (e.g. Each type of procedure is coded with the HCSPC code (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System)).

To get you started quickly, the customers of the CMS Provider Performance data package will also have access to a pre-built application which can be integrated with your own data for unique insights.

    Qlik Community,

I keep getting an 'invalid expression' error specific to the IF statement in my LOAD statement. When I use the same IF statement in a straight table expression it works so I'm wondering there are different syntax requirements for a LOAD statement..

My IF statement is as follows:

    ,IF(Match(CostCenters,'CC1','CC2') AND Max([ApptHR])-Min([ApptHR]) > 8

      ,1.5

      ,IF(Max([ApptHR])-Min([ApptHR]) > 4

       ,1

       ,0.5))

    as ProviderDay

The intent is that only providers in the cost centers CC1 and CC2  who worked more than 8 hours are eligible for a 1.5 day credit, everyone else above 4 hours receives 1 day and below that 0.5 day.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated,

We're having difficulty matching numbers for readmission records in the Vizient/UHC CDB online tool. The issue is with records being excluded from the numerator and denominator.
