Hi @drorelkouby

I am seeing a lot of anecdotal information about image rendering issues in IOS safari email searching via google search.

I would suggest trying to view the email on your device through a gmail account and or outlook account. Also try through a different browser on your IPhone like Chrome or Firefox.

Hope this helps...

Thank you  @Frank_S ,

for now, the workarounds i have found are:

1. click the "forward" button and watch the message (without really forwarding it). i guess it download a fresh image from the server.

or

2. using outlook for iOS

I've just hoped someone already had this problem and found elegant way to display the right message, using the NPrinting features or the iOS setting.

I think you should ask apple support for solution - this is not NPrinting related issue, but purely iOS!

The thing is Apple is a bit bigger than NPrinting...
So it's better for us to find a solution for this bug if we want IOS users to use Qlik.

Hi

I understand your point, however i am not sure if you understand what is causing the problem on iOS devices. Do you understand that this problem has nothing to do with NPrinting  and is only specific to iOS caching  in native mail client?

It is purely due to images beeing cached by apple device. So if it finds cached images (lets say "imgCH38") it will not use the one which NPrinting has sent but the one which is somewere cached in iPhone/iPad mailbox, which is wrong by design on apple side!

What you can do is:

  • ensure users are clearing their cache reguraly
  • make users use different than default iOS mail client'
  • as i said before - you can ask this question on apple community as it is iOS problem so maybe there is someone who will have more knowledge around how force mail client using each time image sent in mail (and not the one from cache)

hope this gives you bit more light and understanding of the issue.

cheers

Lech

I have looked at it little bit more. The problem seems to be ignored by apple team. See below threads:

https://css-tricks.com/forums/topic/iphone-mail-displaying-wrong-images/

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5146502

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7456614

In the first thread the suggestion was to change email title, content etc... maybe you could add timestamp to your email subject and content in NPrinting to try force iOS mail client to use new image?

It’s a problem with Apple for sure... But as an Apple customer and a Qlik customer I just want a solution.

I guess I’m too small for Apple to listen to but I hope that for Qlik as a software company it’s easier to contact Apple and together think of a solution. It can be a fix from Apple side or a workaround from NHPrinting like having a unique name for each embedded object.

I understand your frustration and as a customer i would also be frustrated.

Have you tried posting a question on Apple's support portal? Since we identified that problem lays on iOS side, why don't you start from there? Once you do it you can add a link to your apple support case here so others can back you up. Maybe there are some settings apple can provide you with which would solve this problem.

Also If you want Qlik to deal with it  I guess you should contact your local partner or Qlik account manager and discuss it with them first.
