Cannot disable Reports-edit in security roles

Simple question : why is it not possible to disable "View", "Edit" and "Create" under Reports and Filters etc. when setting security roles.

I have administrator rights, so I assume I can change these settings for other roles.

Hi

"I have administrator rights, so I assume I can change these settings for other roles" - wrong assumption, as there are four predefined roles and you cannot change 3 of them:

  • Administrator
  • Developer
  • NewsStand User
  • Users (this default role can be adjusted to your liking)

So if you are trying to change one of the top 3 roles this is the reason you can't and this is working as designed.

But nothing is stopping you from creating new custom role and as an administrator you can do whatever you want with such custom role.

Thank you for your answer.

Totday I discovered that the reason why I could not change some settings, had to do with the order I changed the various options.

For example when under "reports" , "Import" and "Export" are enabled, you cannot change "Edit". When Import and export are disabled, only then it is possible to change "Edit" and "Create" .

It is logic to build in these checks, but when I want to change settings quickly it is not the first thing I think of.

Problem solved 🙂
