Cannot login after Restore Nprinting May 2021

Hello,

I've tried two backup Nprinting May 21 from one server in a specific domain to another server in another domain.

Everything's fine during procedure but I can't login into new NPrinting server, with old login/password

Is there a way to reset credentials ?

Regards

Hi,

The Qlik NPrinting native authentication method (email and password) should continue to work also in the new domain. So you can login with an administrator user by inserting email and password and change the domain user filed.

If you have many users to change you can use the Importing Task to update all of them. If you think to follow this strategy I suggest to start by testing a small number of users before doing the mass upgrade.

Best Regards,

Ruggero

What authentication are you using?

If it is a windows authentication before creating a backup you could create a user in NPrinting which will have domain credentials in format of "NEWDOMAIN\USERID"...

as a alternatice you could always use NPrinting authentication using a user email and password which can be setup in NPrinting admin console --> user.

I would also flag that since you are moving to different domain you may want to create a nprinting service account using user in existing environment so once migrated it can have administrators rights...

Additionally,

If you do not recall the NP email address and password that you installed NPrinting with or another NPrinting 'Administrator' role user on the system,

you may need to

  • restore to your original server
  • insert a password into and NPrinting 'administrator' role user (test the password by logging out of our windows session and log back in with the NPrinting credentials (email address and new password)
  • restore to the new server in separate domain
  • log into NPrinting with the NPrinting credentials in which the password was updated.
  • insert your new domain credentials to the NP 'administrator' role user.

Note: when restoring it is critical to restore to the NP database (version) to the same target version of NPrinting. See the following for details: How to BackUp and Restore Qlik NPrinting Repositor... - Qlik Community - 1715863
