Excel template doesn't get refreshed metadata

I have an Excel template with a straight table from Sense that works fine, but today I added 4 new fields to the Sense table, refreshed the metadata in NPrinting, and when I click 'update' on the table object in the NPrinting template, it says "There have been no changes." I have tried refreshing the metadata multiple times, closed the template and reopened it, but still the same result. The table has 126 fields in it. The table doesn't violate NPrinting requirements.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, I can only assume that:

  • you have added 4 new fields to different app (maybe copy) so that the app which NPrinting connection is pointing to is wrong or
  • you have added 4 new fields to different Qlik Sense table object (not the one which is used in NPrinting)

I know it seem impossible, but i think one of the above is very much the case.

thanks

Lech

I just returned after a few hours away, refreshed the metadata in NPrinting again, clicked 'update' in the template, and the 4 new fields appeared.

Ohh Good!

have you closed your NPrinting designer between metadata refreshes? leaving it open would often also prevent new metadata from flowing through.

cheers

Hi,

Qlik NPrinting Designer reads the metadata on opening. If you add a field in the Qlik Sense app and refresh the connection cache you must also to close and open again the Designer in order to force it to read the connection metadata again. Only after you can do the object update.

Best Regards,

Ruggero

Hello, curiously enough, I was successful today with these steps:

  1. Opened the template in NPrinting Designer and left it open
  2. Loaded the Sense app that created 2 new fields, and I added them to my straight table
  3. Refreshed the NPrinting metadata
  4. Waited about 20 minutes
  5. Clicked 'update' in Designer, and the 2 new fields appeared

So the wait seems to be the key.
