Import/Export NPrinting elements

Hello,

is there a way to export tasks, raports, filters from a nsq file?
And then to import them in another one?

We have a lot of disabled elements in our .nsq file, and I wonder if I can move them to new .nsq file to create something about archive of dissabled, not used (yet or allready) tasks, which I don't wanna delete, but their presence makes our sheduler looks dirty and not intuitive.

Hi,

The Qlik NPrinting project file is a file (.nsq) so you can create a copy of the file, test that the copy is working correctly and after delete the objects you don't need any more from the original one.

Of course the .nsq file itself is not enough to create a reporting system with Qlik NPrinting 16.*, you need also the report templates etc.

Best Regards,

Ruggero

Good point,

I thought that there is an app to move objects, archive them ect.
But your idea to copy the file and edit it, is good enough.

Hi,

Edit the copy in Qlik NPrinting 16 Designer, not manually open it in a text editor and remove stuff. The second could damage the file.

There is an export tool if you need to re-import Qlik NPrinting 16 reports in a 17+ installation but I understood that you want continue to use 16.* so you can just copy the file.

Ruggero

I would loved to change Nprinting 16 to 17, but I will do it only, when the new version will be at least as good as the 16 is. Because now it doesn't have a lot of options, when i compare them together.
For example: Task failure notifications, Variable filter, FTP Support, Send to printer - the most critical things which one are not in version 17 according to https://help.qlik.com/

Thank You for Your warning about changing a file itself.

in other words, there is no proper solution to import/export nprinting elements from one file to the other. Copy kind of thing will not work, if one file is not working properly or it has some issues in that case only I want to create new .nsq file but to save massive time of creating the things like filters, conditions, settings, template designing, it would be life saving thing which is not there. There is still a big room for Qlik to improve its products and performance.!!!

Hi @farru_scorpio

this is quite outdated conversation and .nsq files are for years not supported as repository is now all in postgres.

If you wish to discuss particular improvements I would suggest to create new topic, provide detailed explanation what you are after taking into account currently supported software versions and we can take it from there. Make sure to use currently supported software and mark the proper version of the software in use as that is a basis for meaningful conversation in this forum.

Hi,

.nsq files were used by QlikView NPrinting 16.* and older versions. It went out of support on March 2020 so, if you are still using it, please plan a migration to a supported version as soon as possible. Before starting the migration read carefully the related part of the help site at https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/February2024/Content/NPrinting/Migrate/Migrating.htm.

Please also avoid to comment  so old conversations: start a new one instead for your specific question. Thanks.

Best Regards,

Ruggero
