In Nprinting I have multiple connections.
Now I want to import users to distribute reports based on a filter per user.
A user can have different filters for each report.
1. How is the app in the first sheet of an import file connected to the users in the second sheet of the import file ?
We are using Nprinting 19.9.5.0
EDIT: when I add the same user several times to the import file, but with different groups and different filters, and I create a task with destination to a group, will that work ?
Hi,
The first worksheet is used to create filters. It is mandatory that the worksheet exists with all columns but they can be empty. Each filter defined in the first worksheet has a specific name.
In the second worksheet you create the users. It has the Filters column, in that column you insert the names of the filters you want to associate to that user. Filters can already been defined in Qlik NPrinting or be created in the first worksheet.
Please don't modify the structure of the users file.
The email is the primary key of a user, so you cannot create more than one user with the same email.
Users are common to all Qlik NPrinting apps, filters, instead, are by app. So you can create different filters on different apps and add them to the same user. The alternative could be create different import users tasks one for each set of filters and run the correct one before running the publish task in order to change the set of filters associated with the user.
I think this topic was already discussed in the past here in the community, so I suggest you also to seache for it.

@Ruggero_Piccoli Correct me if I am wrong Ruggero, On top of what you just said filters are not only App specific, but also Connection specific which means that user can have 2 filters in one app filtering the same field by different values and those filters will affect objects used in app based on connections they came from.
Hi,
When you create a filter, first you select the App. Entities that are in an App are not visible by other apps and don't affect other apps. So, for example, if you have the same Qlik Sense app or QlikView document connected inside two different Qlik NPrinting Apps you have to manually create the filters you need on both apps because you cannot use the filters created in the first app inside the second.
Then, when you add fields or variables, you first have to select the connection, but you can add fields or variables from different connections in the same filter. A filter on a field of a connection doesn't affect data from other connections.
If in App1 you create a filter for Year=2019 from Connection1. Connection1 is an entity of App1 so it is not visible or usable from App2. If in App2 you create a filter for Year=2018 from the same Qlik Sense app or QlikView document of Connection1 in App1 connected in a new App2 connection this will not affect data from App1.

Would it not just be easier to change primary key not to be email address and allow us to do multiple accounts for same email?
Hi,
The email is the primary key and it is not so easy to change the internal way of working to use another primary key. Please note that in recent versions Qlik NPrinting ahse the alternate email https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2020/Content/NPrinting/Recipients&Users/Create-users-...
You can create 2 users with different filters but the same alternate email 1 to deliver to the same user different reports with different user filters.

Ruggero
Is there a way to manage the alternate emails in the excel files used for imports?
Hi,
Yes, the Excel file has 3 columns one for each alternate email as documented in https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2020/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Import-Us.... You can also download an example of Excel users import file from https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/June2020/Content/NPrinting/Examples/Examples.htm
Best Regards,
Ruggero
thanks for your informations. What about if we are in this situation :
user1 in a excel file linked to a group (Group1) for example
same user1 in another excel file linked to another group(2).
After importing the second file, user1 won't be linked to Group1 anymore. Is ther an option to merge groups ?
Of course the best solution is to have only one file, but in big companies, it is not always so easy.
Thanks and have a good day
Johann
