Is it possible to use windows AD to automatically sign in to NPrinting 17 Newstand?

Just like the QlikView AccessPoint, is it possible to have NPrinting 17 automatically sign into the NewStand using the current windows user?

Thanks, Karl

Hi Karl,

Unfortunately pass through authentication (single sign on) isn't possible at the moment. It's a good idea that you may wish to present to your Partner Manager at Qlik.

An uptodate certificate will come in future release on NP 17 which will prevent the untrusted warning message. The milestone date for that is not yet available.

Hi Frank,

I did that and the windows AD login does work, but is there a way to make it automatically login?

Also, what's the easiest way to get rid of the untrusted website warning?  I'm trying to make the access to the NewsStand as easy as possible.

Thanks, Karl

Thanks Frank.  Don't worry,  I'm just making sure I'm not missing anything.  I know there will be a couple things we'll have to wait for in future versions, but it's a new install in a customer and I'd rather start them with NPrinting 17 instead of NPrinting 16.  I like where 17 is going.

Best, Karl

Do you confirm there is no pass-through auth. with NP 17.2.2?  What happens if I have hundreds of Newsstand users that want to login using their current AD user and password?  What I say to the customer?

Right now how do you solve your requirement?  I have the same req on my Customer with a fresh new NP 17.2.2 installation and hundreds of potential newsstand AD users "ready" to access as soon as we provide a solution to the IT Management..

Hi Francesco,

You can import all your AD users into NPrinting ensuring that you also populate the Domain account field. See these pages for instructions on importing users and for the Excel format:

As Frank explained above, once the users are in the NPrinting repository, they simply need to click Windows Login to sign in to NewsStand. The credentials used to log into Windows will be used here so they do not need to provide them again. It is not automatic pass-through authentication but it is just one click.

Thank you Daniel I did it with negative results.  The issue was related to the trusted address settings in the Internet Explorer.  I add the IP of the newsstand site to the trusted site and the Windows Logon button pass my authentication to the AD with positive results.
