Moving from NP16 to NP18 a Excel Report

Hi we are moving form NP16 to NP18.

In NP16 I use to make some changes directly into the Excel template file, just because it was faster than editing the report into NP.

In NP18 everything I to the template file after the report has been created, it is not applied in the report itself, like if NP is working on its own copy of the template file.

Is this the case? Any chance to know where this copy is saved?

Thanks in advance

Neo

Hi @Neotheone

  • Unlike NPrinting 16 where report templates could be managed from a user defined location, NPrinting 17 + Platform ( NP 17, 18, 19 ...) stores report templates in a central location on the NPrinting server as shown below. The alpha numeric GUIDs represents each separate NPrinting App in your NPrinting environment.
  • Each Guid/NP App contains each report template created with the NP app:

report templates location.png

But please note that you need to avoid changing the folder structure as this will interfere with and damage normal NPrinting operations.

Do NOT change any other folders or files  or any folder or file names. Any changes made within this folder structure this is not recommended. All changes, where possible, should be made from within the NP designer template editor.

If you need to update a report (like updated margins or changing corporate logos, I suggest exporting the report using the export functionality, making changes that you need to the template, then re-importing the report into NPrinting. See https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2019/Content/NPrinting/AdministeringQVNprinting/Impor...

As a best practice in the NP 17 + platform, please ensure to perform regular backups using the steps in the following tutorial.
