NPrinting 16 recipient filters - filter fails so sends out all data??

Hi All,

I have a problem that i am struggling to find a solution to.

I have some data by 'Company'.

Each 'Company' has a recipient assigned to it (some recipients will receive data for more than one company)

I have imported the recipient name, email address and Company (this i have flagged as Filter1 in the import wizard)

The recipients appear to look correct when i look t them in the recipients module in the NP16 designer, and when i look at the filter within each one, again it looks correct.

I also have a report filter which selects the current Year and Period.

When i run a publish test, most of the reports that are generated are perfect, but there are 4 that contain all of the data. After investigation (by making the same selections in QV), i find that if a filter cannot be made, i.e. PersonA is now part of a different company and has been updated in QV but not in the  distribution list, or if there is no data for a specific person within the time frame selected, then this sends out the extra data.

I have 'verify' ticked within each of the filters and i also have a condition set that the object that is used in the report is populated.

Does anyone have any ideas on what i am doing wrong please?

Selecting 'verify filter' should prevent all data from being delivered as you have already done. So if that is the case, I suggest checking the following

1. Open your QVW and make the same selections in your QVW that are represented by NPrinting filters used in the report/report task. This will determine if there is a problem with the data model. If the filter is failing, this behavior suggests a problem with the dimension and dimension values in the data model. I also suggest testing the filters individually by creating a new separate but similar report and report task. This way you can narrow down which filter is not working as expected. Add a current selections box to your QVW and to your TEST report to see exactly which filters are being applied. (you will need to refresh your NP connection after you add the CS box).

2. Duplicate filters could be breaching your results. Check that you do not have the same filters on cycles and reports for example. Also ensure that you have no locked filters which may be forcing all data to be presented.

3. If 1 and 2 do not apply, check that you do not have any unsupported items in your QVW. If you do, this will cause unexpected reporting results eventually if not by now. Please check your QVWs for these items and take action to mitigate based on this following article https://support.qlik.com/articles/000026081

Hi thanks for your reply.

From what i can see, everything is set up correctly, I've done this plenty of times before but i just can't get it working for this customer. They are on a very early version though (v16.0.0.0), i can't find anything when looking myself but do you know if there are any bugs with filters in this version?

The customer won't upgrade just yet (i have no idea why though).

Thanks

As you have identified, NP 16.0.0.0 IR is very old and in fact, very buggy comparatively to the 16 SR 9 version. This latest version has evolved to handle more complicated QVWs and scenarios including performance enhancements.

The old version alone 'could' be causing the specific issue for this customer.

However, if you are the supporting partner/consultant, I suggest getting a copy of the customer's environment (NSQ, QVW and report template) and do testing on a NP 16 SR 9 Designer and Server environment.

Hi,

Yes i am the supporting consultant, unfortunately they will not allow any data to be taken off site, they have even disabled copy and paste on their servers.

I have a work around,  they have other reports that have data reduction but by using section access, i just didn't want to spend all that time setting up section access to be honest.
