I am working with NPrinting 188.8.131.52 (the latest) and i am testing import task functionality. I am using XLS templates from help:
As far as i noticed everything works OK apart from recipient filters not being updated after they are changed in XLS file.
Filters seem to behave the same way as Roles or Groups as they are added to existing recipients filters instead of being overwritten.
Is this behavior intentional?
regarding roles and groups help says:
Roles: list of roles for a user, separated by commas.
When importing users with groups or roles:
regarding filters such a statement is not written anywhere so i would expect that filters would be removed/replaced with the new one instead of adding associations for new filters.

"...Am updating the filter value(say filter1) in the blue circle to a new filter value(filter2). After which I am running the import task."
My answer to that is that this is not a Filter Value - as it is only association between filter and user.
Filter value is stored under Filter Sheet in Excel (see screenshot in red framed areas)
"I was expecting the filter1 to be overwritten with filter2 in the nprinting console but I see that filter2 is present in addition to filter1, as below. I don't want this as I am planning to generate multiple reports to a single user(by way of importing multiple filters by running import task multiple times)"
You are trying to change association of user ans filter which is not going to work. Nprinting will not remove existing association, but will only add new ones
the way you are doing it now will not work as per one of my comments that Filters during update will behave like Roles and Group
I have spoken to Qlik Support regarding this issue. It is really "help" bug as it should be stated that filter will not be removed.
As they are going through documentation updates they will update filter import description which will behave similar to groups ( can be added/updated but not removed)
hope this helps!
Thank you for your answer, are you as well were having issue updating the recipients using the Excel import file? If I slightly modified an user name in the template, the NPringint dont detect it as a modification but as a new user and it gives me back the error that cant add two users with the same email. Any help with this?
I will be investigating this probably tomorrow.. I wil share mi findings
Version 17.2.3 is now available on the Qlik download site. I suggest go through the release notes and test on that version.
HTH - Daniel.
I have not tested it yet on 17.2.3 and i do not want to do that on my production setup as this would require an upgrade (i am afraid of upgrading as it is known that it may break a repository and i am not familiar with backup restoration yet)
I will do testing on my priv environment and once i get my result i will share them with you.
I am on nprinting 17.3.1 and I am still seeing that this is the case. I updated the filter associated with the user and triggered the import task. All it did was to add the new filter to the existing filter. I was expecting it to overwrite as per the 'Help'.
How did you address this in your case ?
can you provide a screenshot of your excel and what actually you are updating? (what you are changing and what do you expect to see)?
So here is the thing:
Above is an expected result - do you get something else?
Am updating the filter value(say filter1) in the blue circle to a new filter value(filter2). After which I am running the import task.
I was expecting the filter1 to be overwritten with filter2 in the nprinting console but I see that filter2 is present in addition to filter1, as below. I don't want this as I am planning to generate multiple reports to a single user(by way of importing multiple filters by running import task multiple times)
