NPrinting Error while connecting to mail server: Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out.)

Hi All,

We are using NPrinting 16.4 version, which is configured with E-mail settings by using SMTP as per the attached screen shot. It was working fine but suddenly from last 2 days we are having issues and receiving error message as below.

Message: Error while connecting to mail server: Verify internet access and E-Mail settings in QlikView NPrinting Options (Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out.)

Most of the jobs in NPrinting running fine and sending the report to the users but couple of the jobs having this issue and giving the error message.

I am trying to search the possible solution for this issue but yet to find one. Please advise what could be the reason for this error message.

Hi Nihal,

Do you also produce those reports to a folder?

If yes and if the reports are actualy created in folder location then problem sits only on SMTP server.

you can have few problems:

  • size of the produced reports is to big to be sent via email (check the size of possible attachements)
  • you could sent too many reports from single source and your SMTP server could have policies updated where it just blocks connection (anti SPAM)
  • you could have a proxy setup on NPrinitng server, verify your Proxy settings - If you have proxy there, check if you actually need it or maybe whitelist smtp server connection to skip proxy

Hi Lech,

Yes, we are producing the reports to a folder.


We are NOT sending the attachments via email, we produce the reports in the folder by using a "Custom Folder" option and adding the recipients to receive the alerts for that particular 'Task'. (at this time we have maximum file size is 30 mb).

Just to add more to my issue. for example I have noticed in the log like at one point it says error while connecting to mail server but after few seconds it does connected and message sent to recipient. sometimes it not connecting at all.

05:35:30 Message Error while connecting to mail server. Retrying to connect

05:35:52 Message Error while connecting to mail server. Retrying to connect

05:35:56 Message Connected to smtp-relay.gmail.com

05:35:56 Message Sending Message...

05:36:00 Message Message Sent!

It's looks like I will have to contact the Person who manages the SMTP Server, please let let know if I am thinking in a right way.

Hi,

even me facing the said issue from today, earlier I used to directly send PPT reports using reports task.

starting from today morning getting same error.

Have not done any changes to existing configuration.

Yes - I think so - please check with your SMTP server admin .

The connectivity is definitely an issue here
