NPrinting cache status error Exceeded maximum number of retries

I am failing miserably trying to get a server connection in the NPrinting (17.3.0.0) web console to work with QlikView (12.10.0.0) and I now have uncovered a new cache status error message...Exceeded maximum number of retries.  Can anyone help explain what causes this?  My log files haven't been much help, they always just state "Reload metadata task sent to queue".  Thanks.

Hi Kris,

QlikView 12.10.0.0 is not supported. You must be on SR1 at least. See: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/17.3/Content/DeployingQVNprinting/System-requirements_engine.h...

This message is very generic and will appear for different reasons. two thing to check at this time.

1. Check your NPrinting server and the version of the QV desktop installed on it.

It says you are using 12.10.20600.0 SR8. But is not clear that both the QV desktop and QV server are the same version. Both must be the same version. This is standard QlikView best practice. It is also critical for normal NPrinting operation.

If they are not the same version, update the NP server QV desktop so that it matches the QV server and try again.

2. Also check that you have managed all unsupported items in your QVW as per the following article.

Unsupported QV Items

After you address the above,

  • abort all running tasks,
  • restart the NPrinting services and
  • try again.

Hope this helps...

Thanks @Frank_S  for the quick reply.

Yes my QV server and QV desktop are in sync, but this kind of error occurs suddenly.

I restarted all the services second time and it worked, have no clue though.

Anyways thanks for the highlighting on the Unsupported QV Items .

Will take care of it in future.

Gargi
