NPrinting connection varification error

Hi

I tried to create a connection in NPrinting from to read a QVW file from anther QlikView server. Below is the error I got when I run the varification:

verification.PNG

The Engine is my laptop and the account used to run Qlik NPrinting Engine DO belongs to the QlikView Administrators Windows group on the QlikView Server. So I don't know why it detected this error.

Also attached the QlikView Server windows Group:

users.PNG

And the NPrinting Service in my laptop as below:

services.PNG

BTW, NPrinting_Admin is the user I used to install Nprinting, it belongs the local adminstrator in my laptop and I upgraded NPrinting to 18.0.4.

From some other discussion content in Community, some said The Windows user account must belong to the local QlikView Administrator group on all QVS servers used by Qlik NPrinting.

In my case, I have 2 QlikView application servers and they both have the Engine accout as QlikView Administrators group. So my concern is why the connection still have that error.

Could anyone know why?

Hi,

So - Upgrade to June 2018 (18.19.6)

Since you are running cluster (from what i understand based on your description) did you follow those steps?

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/June2018/Content/GettingStarted/HowCreateConnections/Connect-t...

Qlik NPrinting can be connected to clusters of QlikView Servers. This enables report production optimization by balancing the workload between Qlik NPrinting Engines and clusters of QlikView Servers.

To connect Qlik NPrinting to a cluster of QlikView Servers, authentication in the QlikView installation must be managed using a QlikView Administrators Group.

To create a connection to a cluster of QlikView Servers you need:

  • At least one active cluster of QlikView Servers. If you have more than one cluster, you will be able to select the one you want to use.
  • QMS and QVS computers that can be reached from Qlik NPrinting Engines.
  • Qlik NPrinting Engine services run by a user that is:
    • a domain user
    • part of a QlikView Administrators security group on all nodes of the cluster
    • part of a QlikView Management API security group on the computer where QMS runs

    • QlikView Management API security groups are not created during installation, they must be
    • created and populated manually.

//--------------------------

Also you have Engine service running different user than Scheduler and Admin user.

First thing i would suggest is to use dedicated service account for NPrinitng engine. It seems like it is your own user and might not work as it should.

I am sure you read this, but double check each requirement.

In general  - make sure you meet all requirements from documentation! https://help.qlik.com/

cheers

Lech

Hi Lech,

I tried to upgrade the NPrinting to June 2018 and use one account to run all the related services. But  connection verification still encounter error as below for Server type :The account used to run Qlik NPrinting Engine belongs to the QlikView Administrators Windows group on the QlikView Server. I checked the QlikView server the account do belongs to QlikView Administrator group. Checked all the steps in guide document but can't find out the reason.

Also I tried Cluster type and encounter another error when run verification:

The QlikView Management Service is reachable.

Does it means the QMS is not reachable? How can I check if the QMS is reachable or not?

Hi LAN,

I would follow the troubleshooting steps here: Re: Error with new qlikview server connection

If you still can't resolve the issue let us have details on which step you get stuck. Include screenshots.

On top of what Daniel said also be clear what you are trying to do:

  • do you have a QlikView claster and are you trying to connect to it?
    • If so - did you create a QlikView Management API group as per my previous post?

We need to know what we are trying to do!

regards

Lech

Hi Daniel,

I stuck on below error when run the verification of a connection.

0815 2.PNG

Check the progress step by step.

1. The account to run engine service is also local adminitrator. The NPrinting Engine and NPrinting server installed on the same computer so use the one account to run all the services.

0815 1.PNG

2. The version matched between QlikView Destop & Server, this can be confirmed as the verification check is passed.

0815 3.PNG

3. In the QlikView QMC:

i)Mounted folder is not used.

0815 4.PNG

ii)Authorization is NTFS

0815 5.PNG

4. QlikView lisence

My local QlikView desktop has a valid lisence

0815 6.PNG

5. The account to run NPrinting Engine belongs to the QlikView Administrator group in QlikView server.

0815 7.PNG

But the verification still get error on this

0815 8.PNG

So I'm not sure if I missed something?

Thanks

Hi Lech,

I tried to use Cluster to create the connection but also get another error like below.

c1.PNG

How I can check if the QMS is reachable or not?

And for the QlikView Management API  group ,I think it's already there . Below is what I found in QMC.

c2.PNG

I was crushed by these errors, do you have some idea about it?

Thanks

Hi

lets take it step by step:

  • Are you running QlikVIew claster? Yes or No?
  • Do you have at least one active cluster of QlikView Servers?
    • If you have more than one cluster, you will be able to select the one you want to use - did you do this?
  • QMS and QVS computers that can be reached from Qlik NPrinting Engines (from your laptop). Can you reach both from your laptop? Yes or No?
  • Qlik NPrinting Engine services run by a user that is:
    • a domain user, Yes or No?
    • part of a QlikView Administrators security group on ALL NODES of the cluster. Is your user part of those groups on ALL servers -  Yes or No?
    • part of a QlikView Management API security group on the computer where QMS runs. Is your user part of this group on QMS server -  Yes or No? It is not only that the group have to be created but also your nprinting engine service account has to be added to it!
  • Are the required ports open (for example 4799) - refer to help.qlik.com for list of ports required  Yes or No?

regarding QMS check help.qlik.com

for example:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/November2017/Subsystems/QMC/Content/QMC_System_Setup_RemoteMana...

Hi

Did you solve this and if so, what was the problem?

I'm having the same issue for NPrinting September 2019 and I'm stuck, and spending far too much time on this!

Hi,

Please open a new post for a new question. This one is also very old and things change fast.

Please add screenshots or the error you have and check the logs. Be also sure you met all the requirements listed in the help site.

Note that you can also open a support ticket. If you see that you are spending too much time in tring to solve an issue just open a ticket.
