New NPrinting server installation: Unable to access NPrinting GUI console outside of the server?

Hello NPrinting group,

We have installed NPrinting Server and Engine in a single node environment.

The installation was successful and we were able to connect NPrinting to Qlik Sense server all thanks to the guides on Help site.

But we are unable to access the NPrinting GUI console outside of the server. It works in the server e.g. https://ServerName:4993/#/dashboard. From inside the server we can access the console and create things.

But this does not work outside the server. E.g. as a user accessing from my laptop.

We have Internet connectivity etc and the server is online etc so I am not sure what is the issue or extra configuration required.

Any suggestions?

@jblomqvist

You might want to speak with your Network team if you are not able to access the NPrinting server.

If the NP server is in the same domain and network as your desktop, then typically there should be no issue accessing the NP server from your desktop outside the NP server.

There may be network firewalls blocking you however. Have your network team:

1. Check the communication between your laptop and the NPrinting server

2. Determine if ports are possibly being block. (make sure port 4993 is open in/out on the NP server and your Desktop as well.

3. Check any other network factor that might be inhibiting access to the NPrinting server ie: the NP server on a vlan not accessible from your desktop vlan.

Hi @Frank_S

Thank you for the tips.

  • Are there any practical ways to check the three things you mention? Such as commands or programs that can help detect whether something is working correctly or not.

From the enduser perspective, you can try to tracert or ping to the NP server. In my example below, my NPrinting server's name is QlikServer3 or Qlikserver3.domain.local

p & t.PNG

But these too could be blocked by your network firewalls if you are not having success with either of the command line tools.

Thus your best best is to check with your IT team.

Hi @jblomqvist

to check ports you can use telnet command. Lookup the syntax. However if you are not network admin I suggest you chat to one as they may be aware of any other things which may prevent NPrinting from beeing accessible.

Make sure you give them documentation from Https://help.qlik.com so they can review all ports and setups required.
