Nprinting Designer + cant find supported reporting template editor for the file

Hi guys,

I have accessed to the Nprinting Web Console, created app, created connection, now i want to create the report.

So in the report tab, once i have created the report, i click edit template. So i thought my Nprinting Designer would work.

So, waited a second , it prompted out error message. "cant find supported reporting template editor for the file...." as per my image attached.

i really do not know how to solve it. can anyone help here???

Rgds,

Jim

Instal Microsoft Office on the box where you want to run NPrinting Designer. Looks like you are missing it.

go also to help document and read minimum requirements:

I've had this error occur too and wasn't due to the fact my machine the designer was on wasn't running office.

Not sure what caused the error but it seemed to right itself when I'd restarted everything.

Hi Lech,

I have installed NPrinting Designer on my laptop. and i have already installed with Microsoft Office 2016 even before i have install the designer.

Once i have clicked OK on the error message, it can open up the nprinting designer with powerpoint, like the image as per attached. but there;s no connection, no objects.

Did you install your designer with "Run as Administrator" rights?

Just to make sure you are not using Web based Office 365? This is not supported. It needs to be localy installed version.

What version of NPrinting server are you running on? Is Designer version the same (It should be the same for Server, Engine and Designer). I would also suggest to use the latest version of NPrinintg 17.3.1

I have had the exact same problem for months.  Two of my coworkers with the same computer set up can generate NPrinting reports but I cannot.

We are all using Macs with Windows VMs.

I am using the Windows 64 bit version of Office 365 ProPlus with local installs of Office, not the cloud version.

I have uninstalled NPrinting (17.3.0.0) and Office and reinstalled, I'm using the same version as my coworkers.

I have tried the registry edit found here Workaround for MicroSoft Office 2013 error: "Cannot find a supported template editor"

I have the latest Office updates.

We all log into NPrinting using the same account.

Any other ideas on how to get this fixed?

Hi ,

Try to delete the connection and report aswell

and try to create new connection and reload meta data and create new report and add the template and try.

Best
