Nprinting error: "Error while connecting to mail server..."

Hi,

I am trying to make use of nprinting for the first time. I have a Named User CAL and an NPrinitng license.

On my machine I have the following:

- The NPrinting Designer

- Qlikview with a QV User License (leased from the server)

I managed to created the required NPrinting report on my machine. I also created the Recipients and a Report Task.

On the same server that I use for Qlikview I have:

-  The NPrinting server with an active license

The problem that I am having is that when I manually run a report task, or using a schedule I get the following error:

"Error while connecting to mail server: Verify internet access and E-Mail settings in QlikView NPrinting Options (<unknown[10.1.30.177]>: Client host rejected: Access denied)"

Does emailing need to be set up form the NPrinting Designer or the NPrinting Server?

Hi Matthew,

If you do not wish to send reports by e-mail or get notification alerts by e-mail you do not need to set up e-mail options under Options -> E-mail settings.

However, if you do check the Send Email checkbox in the Message section of the report task, you must have valid e-mail settings or you will get errors in the log. In your case it appears that you have checked the Send Email checkbox and have specified a recipient with an e-mail address in the task but your e-mail relay is failing.

Yes I wish to start distributing report using the SMPT protocol.

Although it may be trivial, can you kindly describe the difference between:

  1. setting the E-Mail Setting from the NPrinting Designer on a developer machine (as described here: How do I set up e-mail in NPrinting? – Customer Feedback for Vizubi) AND,
  2. setting the E-Mail Setting from the NPrinting Server on the Server.

When I Send test email from (1) it works fine. However, when I do it from (2) it gives the following error:

when you test from deisgner, are you using simple mapi or smtp (sound like smot from the description but thought I would verify).

If it is smtp on both designer and server, can you test from deisigner on the server box itself?

Also please make sure if it is working via smpt on client, that the servr has the exact same settings on the email tab within the server management console

after re-reading the message, does your server have security limiations that client does not such as internet access?

running designer on client to see if email works or not will point us in the right direction

The error message you are receiving is from your email host server and being captured by NPrinting.

To resolve this, you must provide your email server service provider or email administrator the IP Addresses of your NPrinting Client and or you NPrinting server.

Currently, your email server is rejecting emails coming from the source computer.
