QlikView 12.10 SR9 and NPrinting compatibility

Hi All,

We have recently upgraded to QV 12.10.SR9 and now we would like to install Qlik NPrinting 18.9.5.

Does this NPrinting version 18.9.5 supports the 12.10 SR9? I am trying to find the document for compatibility between QlikView 12.10 and the NPrinting 18 versions, but didn't find the one yet.

Would you please advise before we install the NPrinting version.

Hi Nihal,

NPrinting 18.9.5 = April 2018. This page says:

• QlikView Desktop 12.10 SR1 or higher is supported starting from Qlik NPrinting 17.2.2 and includes On-Demand reports.

Not sure what more information you need? If you mean there is no mention of QlikView Server, that is because (for NPrinting QlikView Connections) the NPrinting engine interacts with QlikView Desktop to access the source document. That is why QlikView Desktop must be installed locally on the machine running the NPrinting engine. Even when accessing documents via the qvp protocol, functionality similar to QlikView Desktop's File > Open in server is used. In this case (when using qvp) the versions of QlikView Desktop on the NPrinting engine machine & the version of QlikView Server being accessed must match exactly (including SR).

Hi Nihal,

I am using Qlikview version 12.20.20xxxx and Npritning 18 April version and this works well, so does the on demand. They upgrade are there for a reason so you should upgrade to the new version , at least that's what lech_miszkiewicz‌ told me when we had some issue with Nprininting 17.

Noted and thank you for giving your feedback on the version.

We had a little confusion on what version to choose while upgrading from 11.20, so we went for 12.10 SR9. As we thought that this version is more stable than 12.20 xxx because after 12.10 SR9 we haven't seen any service releases but for 12.20 we notice continuous SR's.

My assumption might be wrong but can you please advise how can we choose a right version while upgrading? or do we simply have to upgrade to the latest version? as we still have another customer on the cards to upgrade from 11.20 version soon.

Hi Daniel,

We have a couple of reports which were created in NPrinting 16.1 version.

We are going to install NPrinting 18.9.5 version from scratch, on the new server. Can we able to migrate the old NPrinting files to new version by using export and import option? since we are not doing an upgrade do we miss any features here?

Please advise.
