Upgrade Qlikview Desktop client from 11.2 to 12.1 on NPrinting Server

Hi,

On my Nprinting Server (ver 17.3), I currently have Qlikview desktop client v11.2 and it's leased the license properly without any issues.

I would like to upgrade my Qlikview desktop client from version 11.2 to version 12.1 , so that it becomes compatible with my Qlikview Server (version 12.1)

What steps do I need to follow to configure my Nprinting Server to point to the new version of Qlikview desktop client?

Hi Choo,

As long as you upgrade your QlikView Desktop to at least 12.1 SR1 I don't foresee any problems or additional steps required. Just make sure you can lease a CAL for your NPrinting service account and that all QVW files used in Connections can be opened properly by that service account using the upgraded QlikView Desktop. Note that if you plan on using qvp (Server/Cluster) type NPrinting Connections (preferred), you will need to match QlikView Desktop And Server versions exactly anyway.

It is highly recommended that you test and upgrade to a more recent version of NPrinting to benefit from the large number of bug fixes and enhancements included since 17.3. Changes are documented in the release notes.

Hi  Daniel,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I was able to upgrade as per normal, and yea, the reason why I had to upgrade QV Desktop client on the NPrinting  Server was exactly because of this - cache reload was having issues (perpetually in "Generating") because QV Desktop client on Nprinting server was 11.2 and QV Server was 12.1.

This was a major killer and even NPrinting log files and Qlikview Server log files completely missed out this vital piece of information. Anyway all is good now..
