User Imports question: What will happen if the Groups and Roles specified in the import file do not exist in NPrinting?

Hello

I have a user import question

What will happen if the Groups and Roles values do not exist in NPrinting? Does it create the Groups and Security Roles automatically if it is in the import file? Or do Security Roles and Groups have to exist first?

Hi,

During import Groups that do not exists are created. There is a worksheet called Groups in the Excel file and you must specify info about groups you want to create there.

Security Roles cannot be created because you cannot import information about roles from the Excel file. A role must exists before you import users that need to have this role associated otherwise users will be created without role and you have to add it manually after.

Refer to https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/April2018/Content/DeployingQVNprinting/Import-Users-Filters.ht...

Ruggero

Hi Ruggero,

I see so if I specify a security group in the import file but it does not exist, it will still load the users but the security role has to be created and assigned later?

Sounds like it is good to create the security roles first before importing users?

Hi,

If you add a security role that doesn't exist the user is created but without that security role. You must create the role after and add it manually.

So I suggest to first create the role and after import the users so you avoid manual work.

I tested this with April 2018. Pay attention at the options in the import task.

Best Regards,

Ruggero
