expression editor removed from on-demand nprinting button server connection

Hi All,

Using Jun 2020 version for both Qliksense and Nprinting.

In on-demand button for nprinting, I see the fx - expression editor is not available on 'server connection' property.

on demand server connection expression editor.JPG

Can you please let me know why was it removed, though it was available in earlier versions, I found below support article where it was mentioned this fx is removed after April 2019 version. What is the reason it was removed...?

https://support.qlik.com/articles/000065283

Notethe f(x) expression editor is removed from Qlik Sense NPrinting On Demand Custom objects from Qlik Sense April 2019 and later releases.

Actually, we want to deploy DEV-> SIT-> UAT, so here if server connection is not expression enabled, we cannot modify the connection based on environment, so we would need to modify server link in DEV and deploy directly in UAT.

We want to avoid this kind of migration to higher environments, can you please help address this issue

Hi @NarayanaSwamyKarli

The answer is in a note within the case you quoted:

https://support.qlik.com/articles/000065283

NOTE: It is not necessary to click the 'fx' button. Doing so forces the extension to view the connection information as an expression which in turn adds 'quotes' and an '=' which in-turn causing server connections to fail

The early iterations of the On Demand components did not have a well defined method for migration between environments as your requirement states.

To solve the issue the components have been dramatically improved to accomodate (Included in June 2020 NP) but you must follow this document to do so.

Thank you so much Frank! Got it!

However, I have one more question/problem please....(please let me know if this should be asked in new post)

With this approach, we need to configure the SIT Nprinting server in DEV Qlik app on-demand button.

So, now, our

DEV Qlik and Nprinting are is different domain (us.server.com) and

SIT Qlik and Nprinting are in different domain (eur.server.com),

is this an issue.....? be cause I am trying to configure SIT nprinting server (eur) in DEV Qlik app (us) and I am not able to configure, it asks for credentials and my credentials are not accepted.......though I am able to login to SIT (eur) server web console.....

Hi @NarayanaSwamyKarli

Glad I could help guide you in the right direction.

Yes this should be a separate question in the community. But please note that you are delving into the depths of 'unsupported' territory when talking about migrating between domains.

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/November2020/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Supported-...

Domain trusts, multiple domains, and cross-domain implementations are not supported. For example, where Qlik NPrinting Server is deployed on one domain, the Windows user accounts mapped to Qlik NPrinting users cannot be domain accounts from a different domain that Qlik NPrinting Server is not a member of.

Kind regards...
