Issue where the Nprinting report screen is displayed incorrectly

Dear Qlik Team,

The QlikView server and Nprinting server have been upgraded.
QlikView: 12.10.20700.0 -> 12.40.20100.0
NPrinting: 18.9.5.0 -> 20.10.2

The Nprinting ppt report looked fine before the upgrade, but the files appear broken after the upgrade.
This is happening across all of them, not just one report.

Are there any changes to the compatible versions, such as browser or MS Office version, before and after the upgrade?
Or is there anything that changes in the Nprinting settings after upgrading?

If possible, please provide guidance on solving this problem.

thank you.

Hi,

Qlik NPrinting 20.10.2 is April 2020 and it is no more supported. Upgrade to a supported version (May 2022 or May 2023) latest is better so upgrade to May 2023 SR2 and try again. Between April 202 and May 2023 SR2 many issues were fixed and we must be sure you are not experiencing something already solved.

Best Regards,

Ruggero

agree with Ruggero - first thing is to make sure you are on supported configuration for QlikVIew and Nprinting and then we can talk issues.

cheers

Thank you for answer.

Are you saying that it will be solved only by upgrading to the latest version?
Please reply if possible.

thank you.

Hi @qwebnm

I will just add to the below comments that we dont know what is broken?

You just say that PPT report look broken - what does it mean? It depends how your report is built. If you are using images then it is likely that upgrade of QlikView can result in image exports looking different due to library changes or maybe there is something else. In such case we would need to have steps and screenshots to be able to see what you have and what you expect to have.

I susually just export data and use native PPT features to format report which should not matter in such case.

Regarding compatibility - it is always important to check https://help.qlik.com on NPrinitng part of help page for the version of NPrinting you are using:

Hi @qwebnm

There is no point re-writing help site here so if you need detailed guidance on how to make sure you are using a supported configuration then you need to read it all through. Below are just the very basic general requirements which all must be met:

...and there can be more depending on how you have built your templates.

Now - you are saying you have done upgrade to:

  • NPrinting  20.10.2 which is no longer supported April 2020 version
  • QlikView 12.40.20100.0 which is April 2019 IR (I believe) which is also not supported for very long time

The above combination was supported at the time when looking at archived help sites for those nprinting versions, however I am not sure what were the changes to micorsoft office since.

I would assume you would have to lock your ms office in on the versions from that time otherwise each time you edit template you may be using MsOffice version not compatible with the NPrinting you are using.

That is why it is so important to stay on supported version all the time as there is a lot of moving parts and if one or few are no longer supported you cannot really pin-point what is causing the issue.

hope the above clarifies it for you.

cheers
