NPrinting Nov 2020 On Demand

Hello,

1. Does NPrinting on demand require HTTPS or can I enable HTTP instead?

2. Is it sufficient to use the included self-signed certificates with HTTS and on demand or do most users have to purchase a signed certificate to remove the warning messages from the included self-signed.

Thank You,

Michael

Hi,

I suggest to follow your option number 2, use the self signed certificate and accept it on the browser when the message appears.

Using HTTP instead of HTTPS is unsafe on production environment and could generate other issues. Maybe you can use HTTP in testing only environments. To use On-Demand via HTTP you have to set to HTTP the whole Web Console as per https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Enabling-http.h...

You cannot use On-Demand via HTTP and the Web Console via HTTPS.

Best Regards,

Ruggero

Hi,

Below answers are not tested so I am giving you my inverified opinion about this:

1. I am sure you can run it with HTTP however I would consider then having also Qlik Sense running on HTTP. This is a requirement mentioned here: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Enabling-http.h...

2. Having 3rd party certificate is the preferred method. This applies to settings done on servers (so users dont purchase it!) :

When you have 3rd party cert your users dont need to do anything.

With self-signed certificates story is little bit different. I will say that it is still possible to have it all working ok but there will be some additional steps required:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Managing-cert.h...

I also had issues with self-signed cert not always working. I had issues when I was ussing different web browsers. it worked in IE but not in Chrome for example. I had to add cert on clients site to trusted certs etc...

I am not an expert in this so maybe others can comment more on this.

Hello,

I can get on-demand to work with HTTPS but I it won't work with HTTP.

Has anyone got on-demand to work with HTTP?

Michael
