NPrinting November 2017 HTML reports ZIP file unzipped?

Hi everyone,

does anyone of you know whether exporting HTML reports unzipped to folder locations is now possible within NPrinting November 2017?

By default the export of HTML reports to folder locations ends up within a *.ZIP file.

I've been searching within the "new" release but cannot find

anything helpful.

Isn't there a setting within a setting*.ini or a *.CONF file where

this zipping can be enabled/disabled?

Workarounds as of Batch files doing the rest isn't a solution for me.

Many thanks Philipp

I agree with you Pablo,

I am so waiting for this to be implemented and already have some ideas on how I could use it with Google charts, chart.js  or any other library (just for fun or just because I could 😁 )

Hi Lech,

I think you have hit the nail on the head as to why the delivery of files out of NPrinting is done as a zip file! It seems like blatant protection of licence revenue by ensuring that reams of useful information is not published to many users without the need for Qlik licences. It would not be difficult to built NPrinting routines to create many pages of HTML and images to allow limited drill functionality on a static web server.

It's a real shame they have decided to go this route so far, as a Sense/NPrinting combo could quickly become awesome and indispensable in many more businesses if it was allowed. There would still be scope for selling licences to users who need unlimited drill functionality and true data discovery in organisations that implement that kind of NPrinting creation of static pages.

If you are looking at pushing data and HTML for use with a charting library (I thought Google Charts was RIP?) then you may want to look at this blog post. It's a bit of a poor man's version, but it works:

Hi Steve,

Agree with you. Probably we would have the opportunity to sell more NPrinting licenses on customer with users with low or no maturity in analytics using the approach to deliver HTML reports to them.

We have some customer looking for alternative solutions to deliver simple reports (eg: powerbi). They think pdf files are so outdated and want a solution that could provide static content but with responsive design.

Indeed, it is so sad to hear of people moving to other products over things that can so easily be remedied.

Hi Steve, Indeed, I may have won the lottery with my statement in previous post...

I have never thought about license protection as there are workarounds available with batch files...however you may be right.

On your post - I am daily  on AskQv.com (which as you know brings up all new post re Qlik) so I am well aware of it  and I admire everyone who comes up with such briliant ideas and workarounds. Kudos to you for sharing it.

btw @stevedark  - I just used google charts example as i remember playing with it when trying to provide a response to one of the question on NPrinitng community.... I did not investigate which js library would be the best now...

5 years and still no solution for one of the most requested feature. No wonder why people are migrating to other tools.

Hi @winoth I am not surprised and to be honest I would not expect it to be delivered at all nowadays as focus seem to be on SaaS reporting tool now.

BTW - Have you created or voted for this on the ideation page? Which idea is that under as there is only one regarding cycle features but I didnt see one regarding HTML: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Suggest-an-Idea/Option-to-zip-or-not-zip-reports-created-with-cycling-...

Hi @Lech_Miszkiewicz

Thanks, I have voted for this idea. Have no other choice other to wait. At least they could have an option to view the html directly from Qlik Hub.
