Nprinting Stuck

Greetings Qlik Community

We are using Nprinting 16.2.0.0 in our organization along with Qlikview 12. Mail sending procedure is automated with the use of processed-request files. Recently we are facing an issue that in the middle of this process, Nprinting gets stuck. Log file stops getting updated. As a result mail gets sent to few recipients and not to others. Then we need to forcibly stop the process, restart the nprinting server service and restart the mail again.
Please let us know the possible causes of this issue and how to resolve it permanently. Thank you.

Hi,

QlikView NPrinting 16.* was tested only with some versions of the QlikView 12.* family so you should add some details.

Latest released version was 16.9 that supported QlikView 12.20 SR4, SR5, SR6, SR7 and SR8 but did NOT supported QlikView 12.30. Newer versions of QlikView are not supported by QlikView NPrinting 16.*.

Please also note that it is not possible to migrate 16.2 to 17+ because the minimum version that can export projects is 16.3. Before migrating you have to upgrade the installation. More details are in https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2022/Content/NPrinting/Migrate/Migrating.htm

Best Regards,

Ruggero

@mubinoddin  The Nprinting version you are using and the QlikView version you are currently on are extremely old.  If you are looking for a permanent fix for this issue my suggestion would be for you upgrade your Nprinting version to the latest version and to upgrade your QlikView version to the latest version as well. (Nprinting May 2022 & QlikView May 2022). There are tons of bug fixes and new features that are available to you in these newer versions.

If the issue is solved please mark the answer with Accept as Solution.

@mubinoddin I agree with Lucas, that version is so old that it is likely to be unstable, I'd suggest you talk to your Qlik Account Manager, they can get you access to Qlik Professional Services group, they can get you migrated off NPrinting 16...until then you are likely to continue have issues like this.

In additional to all the critically important points above, you can try to ensure that your NP service account is dedicated to running NPrinting Jobs assuming you are using the NP 16.2 server.

Sharing the NP service account with QlikView or Other NPrinting services is NOT supported now and historically not supported as well.

This current article describes this in detail and applies to your unsupported environment as well.

Kind regards...
