Qlik NPrinting and Microsoft 365 Retiring Basic Auth for SMTP - How to implement alternatives?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for guidance regarding the ongoing Microsoft 365 deprecation of Basic Authentication for Client Submission (SMTP AUTH), and how it impacts Qlik NPrinting.

According to Microsoft's official timeline (linked below), they are permanently removing support for Basic Auth for smtp.office365.com between March 1st and April 30th, 2026.

Microsoft Article: Exchange Online to retire Basic auth for Client Submission (SMTP AUTH)

Currently, we use Office 365 to distribute NPrinting reports, but NPrinting only seems to support Basic Authentication for its SMTP configuration. Since Microsoft is actively disabling this, our report distribution will soon fail.

In the article, Microsoft suggests three alternatives for apps that still require Basic Auth:

  1. High Volume Email (HVE) for Microsoft 365 (for internal recipients)

  2. Azure Communication Services Email (for internal and external recipients)

  3. Exchange Server On-Premises / Hybrid Configuration

Has anyone successfully migrated their NPrinting setup to use Microsoft's "High Volume Email" or "Azure Communication Services"? If so, how did you configure the SMTP settings within the NPrinting Web Console to make this work?
