Qlik Nprinting Server Installation

Hello,

I'm new to Qlik Nprinting and i'm a bit confused. In the of the official tutorial in the  Service logon credentials, the video says "Define the Local Machine name and the user account name". But in the written Documentation it says "Define the Domain and user account name". I don't know which one is the correct one.  In my case, I went with the first Option Machine/User. but when I tried to connect Qlik Nprinting with Qlik Sense all checks were green except "The identity and the qlik nprinting engine service account are a windows domain user". Does it have anything to do with the choice I made ?

I'm really confused and I need your help.

Thank you,

Hi,

Yes it does. Domain account is required for NPrinting service to be fully supported: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2022/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/User-accounts.h....

I guess you misinterpreted what was written in the steps as those steps apply to ENGINE installation where:

  1. one step is to provide LOCAL MACHINE NAME
  2. second step is to provide (DOMAIN) SERVICE ACCOUNT

the fact that you have "Local" in front of machine name does not mean that it applies to service account user.

Also - did you install NPrinting on dedicated machine as required? Fact that you are using local account which also need to have Root admin permissions makes me think that you made another mistake and put it all on one server which will cause isses sooner than later.

cheers

Ok then.. Good news is that you have it on dedicated machine. Bad news is that this is not officially supported configuration and in case of any problems Qlik support will first require you to make your environment supported which will be hard at the later stages.

Although it all can work using local account it is not something what you can leave long term. If it is just for play and testing sure - you can leave it, but as soon as something stops working you need to first make changes and get domain accounts.

Since you are at the beginning of this journey without reports developed it would be better just to uninstall everything and start from scratch with proper setup.

I guess you will do what suits you best, but my word of advice would be to stay supported even at the testing level.

Yes I installed Nprinting in a dedicated machine, i followed all the steps and QlikSense QMC showed the Qlik Nprinting User and I gave it the RootAdmin Permission.

Also, the test credentials was OK and everything went good (I was able to add the engine in the engine manager and it worked !)
