Hi all,
we had a critical error yesterday, it became obvious between two task routines (midnight;noon) in NPrinting.
The first one was done properly, in the second our service user was unable to refresh the cache from a qvw. file.
In between the time-frame of the two tasks we did not change any settings of the service user.
To sum up, our architecture is as follows with two servers:
Server 1: Qlikview application server and storage of the relevant qvw. files. The service user has an assigned CAL.
Server 2: NPrinting application server, local application of Qlikview
The service user is doing tasks in Server 2 based on the bi-daily cache which is stored in Server 1, the connection is set-up in NPrinting to a certain qvw. file in Server 1. The service user opens the local application of Qlikview in server 2 and opens the file stored in server 1.
In my first step after the error, I have checked the connection directly in NPrinting and it failed (see screenshot 1). Suddenly it states that there is no valid QV Desktop license, this was not the case 12 hours before.
In a next step I have open the local application of Qlikview in server 2 and tried to open a qvw. file through "Open in Server" . Immediately an error message occurred (see screenshot 2).
To sum up, the service user is able to open a certain qvw. file directly in server 1. But the same qvw. file cannot be opened when accessing to the file from server 2 through the QV application "Open in server".
Please see also the event logs (windows and QV server) from server 1, regarding the failed trials of the access from server 2.
We really hope you can help us with this matter!
Kind regards
Hi,
Without going into too much detail:
cheers
Lech
Hi Lech,
we have an execption implemented for the firewall rules, i.e. port 4747 is accesable in server 01 from server 02.
The service user has an assigned and valid CAL (until 02/2025), we use the license lease service.
Kind regards
Hi @Bodo
The fact that you cannot "open in server" could lead to your license not being able to lease. This is not really NPritning related question to be frank as the issue is purely QlikView related and in my opinion it is just your network problem.
I know you say you have rules applied and you say 4747 port is opened. What about port 4730? I suggest you double check ports anbd connectivity using "Telnet" and take it from there.
Also just ensuring that QlikView desktop and server are on exactly the same version!
cheers
Since this has started recently (as you indicated) check that the NP service account has not lost it's user CAL license.
Check this article thoroughly (and also ensure the NP service account has not become locked.).

If you cannot see the server at all when doing file/open in server then indeed do check the ports thoroughly as Lech suggests.
Check through all your NPrinting logs (Engine, Engine CEF, Scheduler, Web Engine) as well and look for port connection errors.
