Storing Nprinting Reports on Azure Blob Storage Network location

Hello All,

I want help to store Nprinting Reports on azure blob storage. I followed steps from below blog on Qlik community and Nprinting successfully completes the task execution too but the excel report is not showing on blob location.

Reference: Solved: NPrinting 17 - Distributing reports to folders - Qlik Community - 1376896

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Aditya

HI @Aditya_Chitale

I take you have checked following:

  1. you have logged on with RDP to NPritning server using NPritning service account
  2. your Azure blob storage can be accessed by putting UNC path in windows explorer and you can (WITHOUT PUTTING CREDENTIALS) read and write to that location?

If you have done the above 2 steps and you were successfull then I am not sure what could prevent it from not working.

Forget all blogs etc - just use standard documentation to create folder destination: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/February2025/Content/NPrinting/AdministeringQVNprinting/Folder...

I would like to see screenshot of your Task/Destinations as well as Task/User tabs to make sure your folder destination for the user was chosen and enabled.

cheers

Hi @Lech_Miszkiewicz , Thanks for the input. I have attached tasks/users & tasks/destination screenshots.

Also just adding to the existing question, do we have to provide access rights like read write and modify to nprinting service user (user which is used to login to Nprinting console) in Azure blob access rights section ? because cannot see nprinting user listed in blob security section users list

Hi,

your screenshots look ok - thanks.

NPrinting service account is producing the report so it needs to be able to access and write files to location where the report needs to be stored (in your case blob location) - that seems logical, right?

So the best test before doing anything with NPrinting is simply logging in (RDP) to NPrinting server as NPritnign server account and trying to save to that location a file using just windows explorer and UNC path.

Forget NPrinting and just do that - If you are successfull then your report produced by task should also be stored properly.

Lastly - what do you see in task execution for the task? can you screenshot that?

cheers

Also remember that mapped drives are not supported and you need to use unc path!!!

regarding providing access  - it is not a user which you login to admin console. It is service account which runs NPrinting services. In some cases it may be the same, but most of the time it isn't. I dont know what account is used to run your NPrinting services so I cannot comment on that.

@Lech_Miszkiewicz

I am using UNC path. and I am also able to create and save files manually on that location with my service user. Also in Nprinting task executions it is showing as completed just not able to see the saved files on that location.

Hi @Aditya_Chitale

I know it says completed, but what about the log showing details?

Just enter the execution details and download log or screenshot task execution detail page. Also create another folder (on local server drive for ex.: c:\reports ) and set it also as secondary destination just to see if that report gets saved locally.

Execution Details screenshot:

One report is disabled hence the warning. Please ignore that .

I created a new folder in local drive and saved the report simultaneously in that folder too. It is getting saved there but not on the blob.

Hi @Aditya_Chitale

I have run out of options. I am not familiar with Azure blob thng so I dont know what is involved in getting it to work. From NPrinting point of view destination folder must:

  • be accessible by service account as documented:
    • Your Qlik NPrinting user account which runs the Qlik NPrinting scheduler service must have full NTFS file and folder network access in order to share network folder resources.

If you meet this requirement and report does not get stored to that location I suggest you open support ticket with Qlik as there you will be able to share more details about your environment.
