Hi,

I’ve seen this exact issue after the May 2026 NPrinting upgrade — High Quality reports failing with "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" while Normal quality works fine.

This is typically related to the High Quality renderer (which is more demanding on complex charts, extensions, or large objects).

Quick Things to Try:

  1. Check the Engine Logs Go to the NPrinting Server → Logs → Engine logs and look for more detailed errors around the time the report failed (especially anything related to CEF rendering or specific objects in the report).
  2. High Quality Specific Settings
    • In the report settings, try reducing image resolution or disabling some advanced High Quality options temporarily.
    • Make sure all objects in the report are supported in High Quality mode (some third-party extensions or complex charts can cause this).
  3. Scheduler Config (you already edited this) You increased the timeouts — good. Also try increasing the generate-cache-timeout-minutes a bit higher (e.g. 90 or 120).
  4. Workaround Many teams are currently running High Quality reports with Normal Quality as fallback or splitting complex reports into simpler ones.

Question for you:

  • Are you using any extensions (Vizlib, etc.) or complex charts in the report?
  • What version of NPrinting exactly are you on now (May 2026 + which patch)?

This error became more frequent after the May 2026 release. Qlik is aware of several rendering issues.

Let me know more details and I’ll try to narrow it down further.

Hi,

I tested in one of mine installation and it works. Check also that the "very high" resolution is not producing a report bigger than 512 MB (refer to https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2026/Content/NPrinting/ReportsDevelopment/Common-editing-fe...). I suspect that lower quality stays in the limits but very high exceed it and this could explain why one is generated and the other is not.

If you are not able to solve open a support case with everything we need to be able to reproduce the issue.

Ruggero

Hi,

I'd like to add that we're also experiencing this issue and have a support case for this. In my view it has nothing to do with big reports or timeouts as the most simple Word template just containing the word "Test" fails when export to PDF in very high quality. It has to do with the combination PDF and very high. Hopefully it is addressed ASAP because it is stopping quite some reports for us.

Hope this brings us more in the direction of a fix for this!

Regards,

Javier

Hi,

As workaround try to install the February 2025 SR5. Replace only the Engine until a new SR will be released.

Hi @Dustver ,

The issue with high-resolution sheet images is fixed in Qlik NPrinting May 2026 SR2 (26.19.7) and February 2025 SR8 (25.5.25), available from today.

If you applied the workaround, please upgrade the Server, all the Engines and the Designer to the same release.
